I wanted to make some comedy videos a few years ago so I started working with Dan Leif. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work (I feel like I say “lot of fun” a lot. What else can I say to sound more literary?”) But it was time consuming and I had crap equipment (Flip camera, no mics, ect) and no urge to improve. And not many people were watching anyway. Not that big a surprise. We made a number of little videos and I posted two full episodes of the show which featured interviews, music performances and skits. This mind you, was before Portlandia.  But I was caught up in the comedy craze. I still am, but have less time. Here is a old skit some people have seen before I did with Dan and also the follow up skit. We wanted to do a Mr. Show thing and have the skits blend into each other. You can watch the first two previous episodes at Vimeo.com/eastsidebuffet as well as other videos I made (including interviews with Craig Thompson, Martin Creed and more)

I wasn’t planning to perform but a few hours before the show I was talking to my friend Paul who said he might want to tell a story at the show. I told him that was a great idea. We ended up throwing together some music to play with the story and turned it more into a sonic, music thing with the story. Later in the evening Paul told another story, which was amazing. In between there were many other talents on display, a great plate spinner, some vegetable impressions and a really fun idea: A hat the party hosts had filled with random weird talents people could perform. I didn’t video all the performers. I apologize. I would like to have another talent show at some point again. It was lots of fun.
